CHICKENFOOT To Spend Most Of September Working On Second Album

According to Reuters/Billboard, CHICKENFOOT — the supergroup featuring Chad Smith (RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS),Michael Anthony (ex-VAN HALEN),Joe Satriani and Sammy Hagar (ex-VAN HALEN) — will spend most of September working on its sophomore album, then reconvene in late January and early February for "wrap-up sessions," with a spring 2011 release planned, again via Best Buy.

"This time around it doesn't seem too scary to try to pull it off," Satriani says. "We know we've done it once. The whole scheduling thing doesn't scare us like it did last time. We're more relaxed about the fact everyone has got crazy schedules and know that when we do get together, it's really fun."

Satriani says he expects to have "probably 20 (more) songs to lay on everybody when we get together again." A producer hasn't yet been chosen for the album, but Andy Johns and Mike Fraser, who both worked on 2008's "Chickenfoot" debut, are leading candidates.

CHICKENFOOT's self-titled debut album, released in heat sensitive packaging, has sold over 750,000 copies and has been a Top 10 radio mainstay since its release last June. (The fourth single, "My Kinda Girl", is at classic and mainstream rock radio now). The band embarked on a small North American club tour, performed in Europe in the summer and returned to North America to perform two sold out summer tours, followed by another in the fall.
